The Trekking Tour to Rinjani is an Unforgettable experience. Before a final ascent to 3.726 meters, there is Crater Lake, Segara Anak (Child from Ocean). In the center of this lake is new volcano called Gunung Baru Jari which was last erupted in 1901 There a hot spring to restore the weary trekker and fishing in the cold water of the lake. For those who do not wish to climb to the top of Rinjani, it is an ideal spot to rest.
Mount Rinjani dominates the Northern part of Lombok and is the second highest mountain in Indonesia. For the people of Lombok, both Sasak and Balinese, Rinjani is holy place and they believe that the summit is the home of the Gods. Tour Itinerary
Rinjani Trek 2 Night / 3 Days
The trek starts from Sembalun Lawang ends in Senaru
- Register at the RInjani Information Center (RIC) in Sembalun Lawang (1.156m), meet your guide and arrange National Park entry tickets. National Park staff or your guide briefs to describe the route details, local cultural traditions and what you might see, and explains rubbish management and safety procedures. The trek starts from Sembalun Lawang with a gentle ascent walking through open grassland used as cattle grazing by local people, Resting at Pos 1 Pemantauan (1.300m), after about three hours from Sembalun we reach Pos 2 Tengengean (1.500m) enjoying the beautiful views of Mt. Rinjani’s summit (3.726m). After another hour’s ascent to Pos 2 Pada Balong (1.800m), we start the steep 3.5 hour climb amidst he pine-like Casuarinas species locally known as Cemara, perhaps seeing evidence of wild pigs and the long-tiled grey macaque monkeys to the camp site at Plawangan 2 Sembalun 2 crater rim (2.639m).
- A 3 Am Start is necessary for the hard three-hour climb to the summit (3.726m) on volcanic screed. Once there, enjoy proud feelings of satisfaction and the amazing views across the Wallace Line to Bali, Mt. Agung and Sumbawa, and down to the lake Segara Anak (2.000m) within the Rinjani created. Mt. Baru (2.351m) is an island in the lake and an active volcano, last erupting dramatically in 1994. Return down the ridge passing numerous edelweiss plants Bunga Abadi to the crater Lake and Day 2’s camp. The rest of the day is spent relaxing, swimming in the lake and exploring the caves and pilgrimage hot springs, believed to have healing powers.
- After breakfast leave the lake and climb for two hours up to Plawangan 1 Senaru Crater Rim (2.461m), enjoy and explore the views of the lake from the other side. You will have your lunch on the way of the trek called Mondokan Melokaq, Pos 3 (2.000m). After having lunch proceed down the long trails to Senaru Village (601m), through thick tropical forests rich in flora, bird life and a variety of butterflies. You might see orchid and, if lucky, the reared black ebony leaf monkey, known locally as Lutung. Rest stops are taken along the way, with village stories and local legends related by your guide. Features include the Batu Penyesalan (stone) and banyan tree bunut ngengkang that looks like someone standing with their legs apart. After seven hours walk from the rim, (or five hours from Pos 3 Mondokon Melokaq), the trek ends at Rinjani Trek Centre at the road head in Senaru.
Rinjani Trek 3 Night / 4 Days
The trek starts from Sembalun Lawang ends in Senaru
